| one year physical therapy school down. one year to go.
amazing how many things can happen in a year.
funny how my view of everything gets turned upside down once again for the millionth time.
interesting how i analyze series of events now.
if anyone wants me to place bets for them in las vegas, speak now, please.
| i have been teaching two step lessons at school as a class fundraiser. its quite enjoyable and ive networked with some other future healthcare professionals.
i went out to a country dance hall with some classmates and i expected some enjoyable dancing. unfortunately they decided that drinking was more fun. in addition there was a live band that took songs and sped them up and butchered them. (drunk girl im not interested in + bad music = CRAPPY TIME)
the moral of the story is - good dance partners are hard to come by. im taking applications.
| God has really been teaching me about letting things go this past month or so. I had a run in with a classmate concerning a big project that my group had been working on. Our group had planned and prepared all of our project which was to take place the next day. The classmate informs me that he wants to join our group and already spoke to the professor in charge of our group. He joins the group and we do the project. Unfortunately, the classmate did not participate in any planning or preparation. He only travelled with us to the project site.
It was bothering me that he undermined our group and spoke to the professor before consulting with me, the group leader. I finally had to inform him that it isn't proper to undermine a group and talk to the professor before talking to our group because that puts me in a difficult position to allow him into our group without any significant contribution to the project. He took this as an insult and became defensive about his "vast" participation in the project and we almost had it out. He didn't let me explain why his actions were wrong, but he constantly tried to defend himself the entire time. I don't understand why he was so angry because I was agreeing with him the entire time about his participation in the project. I was just trying to inform him for future projects not to undermine people and put them in difficult positions.
After consulting with the other group members, they felt that we were undermined as well. So the lesson is that I need to let it go. I even tried to shake the classmate's hand after our conversation but he turned, mumbled something under his breath and stomped away. I sorta chuckled at myself because his actions were so unprofessional.
I later found out that he has had other group participation difficulties. I wasn't surprised.
| ok ariel!
i like to keep these updates brief cause no one wants to read a book...
i live in galveston tx, an island off the southern tip of texas. there is an african american frat known as the Kappas. they have an annual beach party on the beach. galveston residence make an effort to leave the island because of the crowd and behavior that occurs. apparently the kappa party has evolved into a huge african american party which includes the "lower class" african americans. the crowd grows to the 100,000s and in 2003 the crowd ransacked the local walmart. since then, local businesses close for the weekend. the streets are blocked and extra police are brought in.
so i decided to make my own decision since im not racist and what not...
the crowd is nuts - i saw a guy get out of his car and throw one of the barricades out of the street. it wasnt a simple move, he was shirtless and hurling police barricades into a person's yard. the police were standing two blocks away. the crowd also likes to walk in the street and park their cars to listen to loud music in front of people's homes.
cool!
